Dr. Adel Barbara worked in public and private health sectors, running ophthalmology centers in Israel, specialized in corneal diseases and refractive

surgery including medical director at Hadassah Hospital Refractive Surgery Unit, Haifa 2004-2014 .Throughout his career, he became a prominent international expert in Keratoconus, and published numerous peer reviewed papers ( 40 ) and edited two books on Kertoconus.

Professor of Ophthalmology in the faculty of medicine, Ain Shams University, a fellow of the royal college of surgeons of Edinburgh and a consultant of phaco-refractive surgery in Al-Watany eye hospital in Cairo. Cataract surgery with premium IOLs is his primary focus, together with the implementation of Femtosecond laser technology, which consists of about 30% of his total annual volume of cataract surgery.  He started to

implant presbyopia-correcting IOLs since 2002 and has substantial experience in various designs of multifocal, new trifocal, and extended depth of focus IOLs. He has a particular interest in complicated cataract surgery with intra-scleral haptic

fixation (ISHF), together with iris repair and different techniques of pupilloplasty.

Cosimo Mazzotta Graduated from School of Medicine of University of Siena, Italy, Medical Doctor in 1997. He had a Specialist Diploma in Ophthalmology in 2001 and received his PhD in Ocular Pathology in 2006. He introduced the Corneal Cross Linking in Italy in 2004 being awarded by the Italian Society of Ophthalmology. In 2009 Assistant Professor of Corneal Surgery at Optometry School of University of Siena, Italy. Currently he is Assistant Professor of Corneal Pathology and Surgery at Post-Graduate Ophthalmology School of Siena University and Director of the Siena International Crosslinking Center. His areas of interest include corneal cross-linking, keratoconus, corneal transplants, corneal dystrophies, cataract and refractive surgery, in vivo confocal microscopy.

Farhad Hafezi is an ophthalmic surgeon and clinical researcher. Hafezi holds 4 professorships (Geneva,
Switzerland, USC Los Angeles, USA, NYU New York, USA and Wenzhou, China. Hafezi is considered a
pioneer of corneal cross-linking (CXL) and he has received more than 54 national and international awards,
including the 2014 Casebeer Award of ISRS/AAO.
Since 2014, he was voted five times onto the PowerList100, comprising the most influential people in
Hafezi is one of the most cited ophthalmologists of his generation. His scientific contributions include over
260 articles, letters, reviews and book chapters. His h index is 59, he has more than 14,000 scientific

Jorge L. Alió del Barrio graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. Specialized in Ophthalmology at the University Hospital of Ramón y Cajal (Madrid, 2009-2013), he subspecialized in the area of ​​Cornea, Cataract, Ocular Surface and Refractive Surgery after completing Fellowships at Guy`s and St Thomas' Hospital (2013-2014, London, UK) and Moorfields Eye Hospital (2014-2015, London, UK).

PhD by the University of Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), he is currently working as a cornea, cataract, ocular surface and refractive surgery surgeon at Vissum (Miranza Group) in Alicante, Spain. He is also Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology in the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Miguel Hernández in Alicante.

More than 130 publications in prestigious peer reviewed journals and international scientific books support his research and scientific background. Graduated as "Fellow of the European Board of Ophthalmology-Specialist Diploma in Cataract and Refractive Surgery (FEBOS-CR)" from September 2018 and recently awarded (2022) by the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology with the “Premio Arruga” to the best CV of a Spanish ophthalmologists under 40 years of age. Declared as “Gold reviewer” by the Journal of Refractive Surgery in 2021 and 2022.

Mohamed HOSNY

Upon completion of ophthalmology residency in 1997 , Dr Hosny worked as a fellow of refractive and
anterior segment surgery at the University of Alicante ,Spain perusing the clinical research of his
Doctorate thesis under supervision of Professor Jorge Alio. He then travelled to work as a Registrar of
Ophthalmology at Princess Alexandra Eye Pavillion in Edingburgh for one year. He obtained his Masters
Degree from Cairo University in 1996 , His FRCS degree from the Royal College of Surgeons of
Edingburgh in 1998 ,and his Doctorate degree in 1999.Dr Hosny was Elected as Fellow of the Royal
College of Ophthalmologists in 2022.Dr Hosny has numerous international publications
including coauthoring in David Ben Ezra’s book “ Ocular inflammation”, Professor Cristobal’s book “
Management of Astigmatism” as an official textbook of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology and
Professor Mazotta’s “ Corneal Crosdlinking”.Dr Hosny is a regular presenter
at the ASCRS and the ESCRS meetings over the past 20 years.He served for more than 14
years as panelist and co-Chair person in sessions at the annual meeting of the ASCRS.Dr Hosny serves as
a board member in the Egyptian Society of Ophthalmology, The Egyptian Society of Ocular Implants and
Refractive Surgery and the International Keratoconus Society as well as an editorial board member of
the International Journal of Keratoconus and Corneal Ectatic Diseases. He is an Examiner at the Royal
College of Ophthalmologists fellowship exams as well as the Arab Board of Ophthalmology.
Dr Hosny is currently a Professor Of Ophthalmology at Cairo University , he also is a leading Refractive
and Anterior segment consultant at Dar El Oyoun Specialized Eye Hospitals in Egypt
